When the theme of the homecoming event is “Superheroes” what do you do? Well, in order to avoid any type of copyright conflicts, we knew we had to invent our own superhero, which is just fine, because that’s what we love to do anyway. Since the mascot of Adams State University happens to be the Grizzly, it made sense he would be the first superhero we would invent. The second superhero, I decided, should be Academic Man, fighting those pesky dangling participles, solving equations wherever he goes.
Up to this point, most of our 3D chalk art work was expressed as creatures above the ground. It was on this piece that I decided to explore going into the ground, with the concept of crumbling away of the earth as something I wanted to explore.
